MS Word Help Tab
The Help tab is the last tab in Word's ribbon (in Microsoft 365 versions). It's small compared to the other tabs, but it's your direct line to Microsoft support, training resources, and feedback tools — all without leaving the document.
It has one main group: Help.
Help Group
- Help – Opens the Word Help pane, where you can search Microsoft's documentation for how-to articles, troubleshooting guides, and feature explanations directly inside the app (F1).
- Contact Support – Opens a pane to reach Microsoft support directly — useful for account issues, billing questions, or technical problems the Help search doesn't resolve.
- Feedback – Lets you send feedback directly to Microsoft: report a problem, suggest a feature, or say what you like about Word. Feedback can include a screenshot of your current screen.
- Show Training – Opens curated Microsoft training content and tutorials for learning specific Word features in more depth.
- What's New – Shows a summary of the newest features Microsoft has recently added to Word, useful for keeping up with updates without searching for release notes separately.
(Depending on your Word version — desktop, web, or a specific Microsoft 365 build — some of these buttons may appear slightly differently or be grouped under a single "Help" dropdown.)
When You'll Actually Use This Tab
- Help – Quickly searching how to do something in Word without leaving the app or opening a browser.
- Contact Support – Dealing with a licensing, sync, or account-related problem.
- Feedback – Reporting a bug or requesting a feature you wish Word had.
- Show Training / What's New – Staying current on new features, especially after a Microsoft 365 update changes the interface.
That Wraps Up the Full Ribbon
With the Help tab, that completes the full walkthrough of Word's ribbon, in order:
Home → Insert → Design → Layout → References → Mailings → Review → View → Help
Each tab handles a distinct part of the document workflow — from formatting text, to inserting elements, to styling the whole document, to structuring pages, to citations and mail merge, to collaboration and review, to viewing options, and finally, support resources.
